Sega Rally Revo looks like style over substance

Have a look at this video of the tropical environment in Sega Rally Revo for the PS3.

Undoubtedly the game 'looks' great. Rippling water. Trees blowing in the wind.

But when the cars enter the scene, they just don't look right at all. They land like no car would land. They move like no car would move. They just don't look like real cars at all.

Yeah - I know - there's a big disclaimer that says the sound and vision is 'under construction' and all that. And yeah - I know - that Sega Rally has never been known for it's 'simulation' qualities, being more of an arcade racer. But honestly, tell me you didn't expect more than this...

I have a feeling this game will not directly compete with Motorstorm or Dirt, but will remain true to its arcade roots.

And that's a good thing, because it is too easy for a game these days, or a movie, to come into the limelight as a simple facsimile of another game.

Take a look at this video with caution... there are two EA games that are looking to dominate the racing category by a long shot. Need for Speed and Burnout 5, both have incredible next gen. features they are touting up. Next gen graphics is now a standard, add to that next gen physics, next gen collision modeling, next get gameplay design with no loading between racing and cruising!!!

Wow. I love my PS3.
