European PS Store update for 28th March

Yes - we know. It's Friday.

Despite hanging around (well, actually I was playing GT5: Prologue on Blu-ray) until about 02:30 this morning, the weekly update just didn't appear.

We know that the original plan was to have the update arrive early evening yesterday. Then there were rumours that things would be held back until the GTA: IV trailer launched. Either way, something broke.

And that is, after all, what software does. It breaks every now and then. Regardless of whether you're on a free network like the PSN, or if you pay a monthly fee like on XBL, it is occasionally not going to work. It's just unfortunate that it didn't work on the day many people were looking forward to downloading the PSN version of GT5: Prologue.

So other than the biggest download of the year so far and the one-day delay, what else was made news on the PS Store today?

Here's the list:

Games

GT5: Prologue (£24.99)
Reel Fishing (for PSP and PS3; £3.49)

Demos (all free)

EUFA EURO 2008

Add-ons

Turok Map Pack (£1.99)
Unreal Tournament III Map Pack (free)
Eye of Judgement Biolith Rebellion Set 2 (£6.99)

Videos (all free)

GT5: Prologue TV trailer
Dark Sector - five trailers
Everybody's Golf World Tour trailer
Eye of Judgement Biolith Rebellion Set 2 trailer
Dynasty Warriors 6 Producer Q&A

Two full games (one of them monumental), a demo, two map packs, the extra card set for Eye of Judgement and a bunch of videos.

I'd say that was worth the extra day, wouldn't you?

European PS Store updates for 7th February

Not a bad update today in our opinion.

As well as a full game we get two demos (both of which had appeared in the US already) and two free add-ons.

The game in question is Sky Diving and will also be released in the US today. It's nice to see a game appear in each store at the same time.

On the add-on front, not only is there a Motorstorm skin in honour of the Chinese New Year (The Year of the Rat), but you get the Folklore competition winner's folk (the Malion) to download as well.

I just hope they don't forget to release the two final Folklore add-on packs in Europe, since they're already out in the US.

Here's the full list:

Games

Sky Diving (£3.49)

Demos (all free)

Turok
Conflict: Denied Ops

Add-ons (all free)

Motorstorm - Chinese New Year Gift
Folklore - Malion Pack

Trailers (all free)

Lost Planet

This week's PS3 releases - w/b February 4th

As usual, you can keep track of the releases each week using the PS3 Attitude PlayStation 3 Events Calendar.

This is the week you can finally order a seperate Les Paul guitar for Guitar Hero III so you and your friends can battle each other in person rather than over the internet.

This week also sees a whole glut of releases, including the much anticipated Devil May Cry 4. You can also get your 'shooter fix' via Turok, The Club and Conflict: Denied Ops (pushed back from last week).

With DMC4 and The Club both feature in this month's PS3 Attitude Big Three, it could be an expensive week for some!

If none of those take your fancy, there's always NFL Tour.

Visit the calendar to find out more about each title and pre-order the for delivery on release day. You can also pre-order through any of the links above.

Turok special on Gamer TV this weekend

For those of you looking forward to Turok, or if you're still on the fence about this dino-powered FPS, there's a 30-minute special on the game this weekend on Bravo.

Gamer TV is one of the top gaming shows on British television and they often have entire episodes devoted to a particular game. The last was Uncharted, which we think was frankly worthy of a full hour rather than the 30 minutes it got!

You can catch the Turok special at the following times and then decide if it was worthwhile or if you'd like half-an-hour of your life back:

  • Saturday 2nd Feb - 11.30 am - Bravo
  • Sunday 3rd Feb - 11.30 am - Bravo
  • Monday 4th Feb - 08.00 am - Bravo

US PS Store updates for January 17th

Courtesy of a lack of clarification either on our part or on the part of Touchstone, we ended up with a sizeable amount of egg on our faces yesterday when we stated that the Turok demo wasn't coming until February. It still isn't, if you don't have a US account that is.

So whilst European PS Stores lack a Turok demo, it did appear yesterday for our friends in the US.

Here's the list of what else arrived in the US yesterday:

Games

Mesmerize: Trace - requires PlayStation Eye ($1.99)
Tori Emaki - requires PlayStation Eye ($1.99)
Blast Factor bundle ($12.99)

Add-ons

"Double Track" - Motorstorm ($2.99; Eagle's Nest and Diamondback Speedway tracks)
Rock Band tracks ($1.99 each; includes Sweet's "Action", The Monkees' "Last Train to Clarksville" and Blink 182's "All the Small Things"

Trailers (all free)

[UPDATE] Turok demo to arrive on 7th February

Turok is due to be launched on 8th February in the UK and elsewhere. On Tuesday this week a single-player demo arrived on Xbox Live. A number of people were clearly expecting the same demo to arrive on the PS Store today.

The news is that you'll have to wait until launch week to 'get your dino on' if you're a PS3 owner. Touchstone have confirmed to PS3 Attitude that the Turok demo won't arrive until the 7th, one day before launch.

Whilst Turok is another FPS in a PS3-world full of FPS titles, it does have its differentiators. I mean, where else can you get to shoot both human and dinosaur enemies in one game?

Of course, that's if you go around shooting enemies. The game has recently courted a mild amount of controversy for delivering a 'reward' (named Grab Bag) for shooting teammates. The developers are ready for any issues though - they have a patch available to disable the achievement should it kick up a real fuss after release.

We'll have more on Turok as we get closer to the release of both the game and the demo.

[UPDATE] It appears that Touchstone's UK office gave us information for the EU PlayStation Store update only, and it looks like we got our wires crossed since the demo arrived in the US today. To clarify, then, Turok will not appear on the EU PSN until February 7th.
